National Association of Enrolled Agents Welcomes New Member
Washington, DC (November, 2010 Lisa M. Stiffler, EA, has been accepted into the National Association of Enrolled Agents according to Gina D. Jones, EA, NAEA president. Lisa M. Stiffler, EA, joins nearly 12,000 other enrolled agents (EAs) as a member of the only professional society dedicated to advancing the interest of EAs and their clients.
Enrolled agents comprise a diverse group of federally authorized tax practitioners who have demonstrated technical competence in tax. They are the only taxpayer representatives currently licensed to practice by the United States government. EAs advise and represent taxpayers before the IRS, including taxpayers who are being examined, are unable to pay, or are trying to avoid or recover penalties. EAs also prepare tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts and any other entities with tax-reporting requirements. Unlike tax attorneys and CPAs who may or may not choose to specialize in taxes, all EAs specialize in taxation and are required by the federal government to maintain their professional skills with continuing professional education.
NAEA’s efforts are supported nationwide through a network of affiliated state and local chapters. The principal concern of NAEA and its members is honest, intelligent and ethical representation of the financial position of taxpayers before the governmental agencies. Members of NAEA must fulfill continuing professional education requirements that exceed the IRS’ required minimum. In addition, NAEA members adhere to a stringent Code of Ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct of the Association, as well as the Treasury Department’s Circular 230 regulations. NAEA members belong to a strong network of experienced, well-trained tax professionals who effectively represent their clients and work to make the tax code fair and reasonably enforced.
For help with your particular situation, consult an enrolled agent. EAs provide tax preparation, tax advice and tax planning services in addition to helping taxpayers resolve problems with the IRS. Many enrolled agents may offer accounting and bookkeeping as well as other business and financial services to both individual and business taxpayers.
